EMMA MILIAN
EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

Lyra Music Executive Assistant Emma Milian graduated from the Eastman School of Music  with a Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance, a certificate in Arts Leadership, and a certificate in Performance Practice. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Ms. Milian now studies with Julia Bushkova at the University of North Texas College of Music and holds a position in the Bancroft String Quartet. 

Ms. Milian is a violinist with a wide variety of musical interests including contemporary works and early music. In 2017, she premiered Sunburst, a work by Charlie Peck for piano quartet at Weill Recital Hall. More recently, she has performed in the Rochester Early Music Festival with the Eastman Collegium and performed as concertmaster in the Eastman Bach Cantata series, Eastman Symphony Orchestra, and Eastman Philharmonia.  

 Ms. Milian served as the concertmaster for the Empire Film and Media Ensemble from 2021-2023. She also recently recorded the score (composed by Mark Watters) to WXXI’s upcoming documentary on Eastman. You may hear her as principal second violin in the orchestral recordings, and first violin in the piano quintet recordings. In addition to her work in Rochester, Ms. Milian has performed in many venues across New York City, including Carnegie Hall, the Dimenna Center for Classical Music, Symphony Space, and the National Arts Club. 

In addition to her work in performance, Ms. Milian has worked with Lyra since 2017 as a Camp Counselor, Administrative Assistant and Student Life Coordinator, and has held multiple student life positions including Camp Counselor at Interlochen Arts Camp and Resident Fellow and Resident Advisor at Eastman. During the 2022-2023 season she was the Marketing, Communications, and Patron Services intern for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

Ms. Milian currently subs with the Texarkana Symphony, Las Colinas Symphony, Abilene Philharmonic and Dallas Bach Society. She plays with UNT Symphony Orchestra and the UNT Baroque Orchestra, and is looking forward to going on tour to Brazil with the UNT Baroque Fantasmi Ensemble this summer!
